Kunafa -Eid Special Dessert Recipe 2022-2023
- – 1/2 Kilo of Raw Kunafa
- – 8 cubes of Butter
- – 2 cups of chopped, mixed nuts
- – 1 1/2 cup of sugar
- – 1 cup of water
- – 1/2 lemon
Procedures for making the syrup:
1-In a deep pan, combine the 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup sugar, stirring constantly over medium heat.
2- Stir the sugar & water together for 10 minutes, or until the mixture has thickened.
3- Squeeze half a lemon over the thickened liquid & continue to whisk for another 2 minutes. Cover the syrup with plastic wrap and set it aside to cool.
4- You can add one tablespoon of rose water for extra flavour, but that is all up to you.
start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
1- Place the raw kunafa in a large mixing bowl and cut it into small pieces with your hands. With both hands, gather large clumps and simply pull outwards, cracking them into small pieces.
2- Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl or in a microwave.
3- When the butter has fully melted, pour it over the small chopped kunafa in the bowl.
4- Begin thoroughly mixing the kunafa and butter over it. Continue to combine until all of the raw kunafa seems moist.
To avoid sticking, get a round pan and grease the surface as well as the sides.
6- Remove half of the buttered raw kunafa from the bowl and place it in the pan. Press the uncooked kunafa to the pan’s surface with your hands, resulting in a flat, rather thick konafa surface. It’s very important to push on the sides to avoid lumps.
7- Once the raw kunafa has been thoroughly flattened, sprinkle in the mixed nuts. It should be spread equally across the flat surface. Add some cinnamon to the nuts for an extra flavour boost. 8- Spread the mixed nuts with the remaining buttered raw kunafa.
8-Cover the mixed nuts with the remaining buttered raw kunafa. Repeat the patting step until the surface is perfectly flat.
9- Bake the kunafa for 35 minutes, or until it has turned golden brown.
10- Take the kunafa from the oven and set it under the grill after 35 minutes. The grill’s goal is to give the exterior surface a golden crisp appearance and flavour.
11- Grill it for about 5 minutes, turning the pan every minute or so to ensure that the heat reaches all edges and the golden colour is even.
12- When the kunafa comes out of the oven, evenly pour the syrup over it.
